Elementary Quarter Classes

Four quarter-long elementary classes are offered this year:

• Literature Projects, first quarter
  Ever wonder what to do with the books read in order to encourage your student to respond to the story? Are you tired of the old book report? This hands-on class provides 8 fun ways to respond to a book. Students will include in their projects main character analysis, explanation of the setting, stating a clear opinion of the content and an outline of the book read. Just to mention a few projects, there will be posters, book jackets, tests, diaries, and flap lap books.
• History Pockets, second quarter
  History is brought to life as students make interactive projects that explore the Great Wild West! Projects are stored in construction paper pockets, which are collected throughout the semester and finally bound into a decorative book that students will always remember. Some areas studied will be: settling the Far West, railroads, the Native American struggle, the Oregon Trail, missionaries, the gold rush, and homesteading.
• Animal Unit Study, third quarter
  Looking for a science class? This one will intrigue elementary age folks. Students will create a notebook of animals that live in six different habitats - jungle, desert, grasslands, ocean, arctic, and forest. Maps and animals will be drawn, research done, fables created, and animals classified. Even dinosaurs will be discussed!
• Conversational Spanish, fourth quarter
  In this class, students will learn basic Spanish conversation skills by participating in fun games and activities.
